About

Hi there, my name is Beth. Vital Supplements For Life is one of my websites.
My focus here is on vitamin and mineral supplements and how they can help to improve your health. One of my personal pet peeves are people that take hundreds of supplements a day. I can’t tell you how often I meet someone like that. I might be out for lunch with friends and someone pulls out a baggie just filled with pills. When I ask why they take all of that stuff – they’ll usually say that they heard it was good for you so they figured they’d take it.

Upon further investigation, I almost always find out they have no clue why they should take it, how much they should be taking, and worst of all – they don’t even know if it’ll hurt them.

One of the things I always do is try to find the original research study – you probably won’t find the actual research study, but usually you can find the abstract. The abstract is a quick summary of why they did the research, how it was done, what they found and their conclusions. The news article will mention the name of the research study or the authors or even the sponsor and you can use that to find the abstract.

For example: I’m sure you’ve heard that chromium can help to reduce food cravings. For a while multivitamins proudly stated they included chromium on their labels. Most only included a small amount, nowhere near enough to make a difference. Once I found the actual research report I learned that you needed to take 300mg three times a day to stabilize your blood sugar which helped to reduce food cravings.

If I can accomplish anything with this site…. I hope to educate you to at least know what supplements you’re taking and why.  My goal here is for you to find out the truth about supplementation. My personal opinion is that less is usually more and that you should only take just what you need. And if you want to take extra, that it’s a conscious, well thought out decision on your part. I hope that I can assist you in making those decisions.
